Pennsylvania has the highest number of prisoners who were sentenced to Life Without Parole for crimes they may have committed or participated in as juveniles. A juvenile sentenced to life without parole will spend the rest of his/her life in prison for a terrible decision they made as children. WE believe this is wrong and that based on the immaturity of children, their diminished culpability and negative peer pressure juveniles should not be sentenced to life without parole and should be provided the opportunity for a second chance.
We the undersigned agree that sentences of life without parole for juvenile offenders should be abolished and all those currently serving sentences of life without parole who were convicted of crimes they committed or participated in as juveniles should be re-sentenced to a sentence bearing the possibility of parole.
